Starcraft 2

During part of my game, I'm reminded of my homeworks, especially with my English homework...So I push my homework for another alternative.I decided to describe the game I'm actually playing, the last game made by Blizzard entertainement: starcraft 2.

What is it about ? first,  you have to know that it is the continuation of a first set with the same name. In this universe, two races, Terran and Protoss, fight against a common enemy the zerg. the terran is the survivor of the human race, the protoss an very advanced race and the zerg, a basic racelike mold, is replicating to invade ennmi to destroy them.

With the gameplay, we have three different strategies to negate our ennemy. On a map whici is a battlefield too, there are two main resources : crystal and the vespen gaz. Antoher constraint is the populationthe more we build houses the more population we have. The goal is obviously building a strong army to win.

My favourite race is the protoss one , they are a quiet more expensive but stronger with a new type of energy control which mean a different control of the soldier.

Amélie Nothomb's new book : "A form of life"

A Form of Life, ("Une forme de vie" in French) is the 19th book of the Belgian writer Amélie Nothomb, brought out this autumn. But before anything else, a little introduction about the author :

Amélie Nothomb was born on the 13th August 1967 in Kobe (Japan). She was born in Japan because of her father who was the Belgian ambassador in Japan. After some years, she moved up to China and other Asian countries. At the age of 17th, she discovered, for the first time, Belgium, where she made philology studies.

This book is about a correspondence between Amélie and an American soldier, Melvin Mapple. This two will send each other many letters. Melvin will talk about his and his firends' obesity problem and Amélie will tell him how she hates when her fans are sometimes invasive and when they believe that they know everything about her. All along their correspondence a kind of friendship will born between them.

This novel is a turning point in Amélie Nothomb's style. For the first time she will talk about obesity whereas she used to talk about anorexia. And she also talked for the first time of the intrusion of her fans in her life. This novel is a great example of the A. N.'s universe.

I really liked this novel, as ever, because of Amélie's humour and self-mockery. There were some passages that were a bit long and boring, but there were not so many, so it was a good book that I really liked to read.

METROPOP FESTIVAL, Lausanne, 11-12-13 November

This is going to be THE music event of my automn: Robert Francis live in Lausanne!

You must have heard his first two singles on the radio, "Junebug" and "Keep on Running", I'm sure. If you like them, don't miss the occasion and book your ticket right now.

A few biographical elements on Robert Francis: he was born in Los Angeles in 1987, from a Mexican mother and an American father, who owns the biggest collection of music sheets. As a child, he learnt to play the piano and the guitar, with the help of

family friend Ry Cooder. Robert says: "I got the idea in my head that I wanted to drop out of school and travel when I was 10 years old." When he was around 17, he met a girl: "It was a really tumultuous romantic relationship that lasted on and off for a few years," he says. "Then it just sort of fizzled out. I started writing songs the first time I figured out how to pinpoint that feeling of loss. I guess I was just waiting to make music until I had something to say. From then on, I realized I could write songs that really meant something to me."
In 2007, One By One, recorded at a friend's studio, was released and earned positive critics. Atlantic Records heard about him and a contract was signed. Robert was then able to write and record Before Nightfall, released in 2009, which is a total hit all over the world: "When people listen to the album, I want them to feel happy," he says. "I feel uplifted when I hear these songs; they don't bring me down. I hope people will be able to relate to them and feel as though whatever is going on in their lives is going to be okay."

I can't wait to be there!!! His music touches me so much, and I can't realise he's so young (only 23!!!) and yet his voice is so rich and deep, his lyrics are so moving. Before Nightfall and Mescaline are my favourite tracks. As soon as the music starts, it feels like I'm in the south of America, somewhere between Texas and Louisiana, lost in the dampness of an episode of True Blood.

SHANTARAM by Gregory David Roberts

As you probably know, I love reading! I was delighted when I was given "Shantaram" as a Christmas present. It's a thick book, with a colourful cover and it looks really promising.

It's the real story of Gregory David Roberts, an ordinary Australian man who ended up in a New Zealand prison in 1981, after getting in trouble in Australia. His addiction to heroin led him to commit armed robberies after his wife broke up with him and left with their baby daughter.

An intelligent and determined man, he escaped from prison several times and fled to India, where he arrived in 1982. The book starts at this point.

Set in the poor and dusty streets of Bombay, the story then takes us to other exotic locations, following the adventures of Gregory David Roberts. It is a spy novel, a detective story, a love story and a documentary at the same time. The author meets Prabaker, a young Indian man who will become his best friend and guide through Bombay, the beautiful yet mysterious Karla, the international crowd at Leopold's, powerful and dangerous men who will accept him as one of their own, Indian mafia dons, a bloodthirsty serial killer, an invisible Asian pimp and guerrilla soldiers in Afghanistan.

From hotels to slum, from Karla's bed to a heroin den, from the snowy mountains to a nightmare jail, Roberts goes through so many incredible adventures he seems to be living 1000 lives simultaneously: drug addict, lover, doctor, killer, soldier, benefactor...

The movie is supposed to be out soon, I can't wait! I really hope I won't be disappointed, as it's often the case with adaptations of books to films. In the meantime, if you're looking for a tremendous read, run to your favourite bookshop to get Shantaram, you won't regret it!

"REMEMBER ME"

"Tyler" Pattinson and "Ally" de Ravin

When I was invited to see "Remember me", I couldn't help being a bit prejudiced. Twilight star Robert Pattinson and Lost blond actress Emilie de Ravin reunited? What a cheesy love story for early teenagers it must be! Well, I was completely mistaken. As it turned out, it's one of the best movies I've ever seen.

I was surprised to see that there wasn't any seat left in the cinema: the room was packed! And the audience wasn't as young as I had expected. As soon as the film started, I couldn't focus on anything else than Tyler's (Pattinson) juvenile and rebellious looks.

The love story of Tyler and Ally (de Ravin) is such an unusual one and their couple is so authentic, you can't help liking them. And Pierce "James Bond" Brosnan is brilliant as Tyler's heartless businessman father. I won't say anything about the plot here, because I don't want to ruin the suspense. However, I can tell you I loved the spaghetti fight scene! We have all at least once dreamt to do that... And I completely agree with Ally about desserts.

But the ending... It's so unpredictable! I swear, when the lights came back, I could see a tear shine at the corner of everyone's eyes, including myself.

My advice is: rent or download this movie and watch it with your partner, best friend or little sister, they'll love it. Make sure you don't forget tissues, you'll need them for certain.
